Five Arkansas residents have recently claimed significant prizes from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. Wanda B. of Paris won a $350,000 top prize on the $350,000 Jackpot scratch-off ticket purchased at Circle S. Food Store in Paris and collected her winnings on August 29.
Wanda, who plays the lottery daily, said she bought $50 worth of scratch-off tickets hoping to continue a small winning streak with the $350,000 Jackpot game. After discovering her win, she shared the news with her family.
“Sit down, because you’re not going to believe me when I tell you,” Wanda told her niece.
Her niece initially thought it was a prank but later congratulated Wanda on her retirement.
“Now you’re really retired,” her niece said.
There are still two top prizes of $350,000 remaining for the $350,000 Jackpot game.
Linda A., from Drew County, won a $100,000 prize playing the X50 High Roller instant game. She claimed her prize on September 2 after purchasing the ticket at Murphy USA in Pine Bluff. Linda usually leaves lottery purchases to her husband but decided to try her luck this time. She scratched off the ticket in her car and realized she had won much more than expected.
“I saw the 100 first and thought I only won $100,” Linda said. “Then I kept scratching and saw the rest of the zeros!”
Linda plans to use part of her winnings to build a workshop and intends to keep playing lottery games alongside her husband.
“I’m aiming for the billion,” he told lottery officials regarding his interest in Powerball.
Two top prizes of $100,000 remain available for X50 High Roller players.
Maria S., a resident of Washington County, claimed a $50,000 prize from playing $50,000 Frenzy after buying a ticket at Walmart Market in Springdale. Maria was surprised by her win and shared it with her son.
“I thought someone was pranking her,” Maria’s son told lottery officials.
Maria has not yet decided how she will use her winnings. There are thirty-two top prizes left for this particular game.
In addition to instant ticket winners, two Powerball players also claimed large prizes this week. A Saline County player secured a $150,000 win from the September 1 Powerball drawing with a ticket purchased at Circle K Store in Bryant using numbers 8, 23, 24, 40 and 53; Powerball number was 5 with a Power Play multiplier of 3. Another winner from Lafayette County claimed a $50,000 prize for an August 27 drawing with numbers 9, 12, 22, 41 and 61; Powerball number was 25 and Power Play multiplier was 4.
The current Powerball jackpot stands at $1.4 billion for tonight’s drawing. More information about games and recent winners can be found at MyArkansasLottery.com.
