The Arkansas Razorbacks softball team will travel to Norman, Oklahoma for a highly anticipated three-game series against the No. 1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners from April 17-19.
This matchup brings together two of the nation’s leading programs, with Arkansas currently holding a 35-6 record and ranked sixth or eighth nationally, depending on the poll. The games are set for Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m., with national television coverage on ESPN2 for Friday’s opener and SEC Network+ for the remaining contests.
The Razorbacks enter the series following a road victory over Mississippi State, where they secured two wins after dropping the first game. The team has demonstrated strong offensive power this season, outscoring opponents by more than three runs to one (353-101), and maintaining a Top 25 ranking in the NFCA Coaches Poll for a program-best streak of 99 consecutive weeks since early 2020.
Arkansas has excelled in road play, posting a record of 73-26 since the start of the 2020 season—the second-best among current Southeastern Conference members. They have also won more SEC road series than any other conference member since 2021. Key players include freshman Brinli Bain, who leads all Division I freshmen with her .415 batting average and has set a new program record with fifteen doubles this season; senior pitcher Robyn Herron, who recently notched her fiftieth career win; Dakota Kennedy, who leads the team with fourteen home runs; and infielder Karlie Davison, who is close to setting new personal bests in several categories.
Oklahoma enters as consensus No.1 nationally with a record of forty wins against five losses. The Sooners’ offense is led by freshman Kendall Wells—who holds an SEC-record thirty-one home runs—and Kai Minor with an impressive .477 batting average. In addition to their athletic rivalry, there are coaching connections between both teams: Arkansas associate head coach DJ Gasso is son of Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso.
This year marks thirty seasons since Arkansas Softball began competition in February of 1997. The program now boasts over nine hundred all-time victories under four different head coaches.
