The Arkansas Razorbacks men’s track and field team will participate in two major California meets this weekend, according to an April 15 announcement. The team is set to compete at the 66th Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, as well as the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific.
These events are considered important opportunities for the athletes to test themselves against strong competition from across the country. The meets will allow both distance runners and sprinters from Arkansas to showcase their abilities on a national stage.
Distance runners will begin their events Thursday evening at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Ernest Cheruiyot and James Sankei are scheduled for the 10,000-meter invitational race, while Jack Williams and Eli Seavey will take part in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. On Friday, Dawson Welch is entered in the 800 meters with Brian Masai competing in the 5,000 meters. Saturday’s schedule includes Donovan Bitticks, Nick Busienei, Masai again, Ben Shearer, and Owan Logorodi running in the 1,500 meters.
Most of Arkansas’s squad will compete at Mt. San Antonio College on Friday and Saturday during the Mt. SAC Relays. Events include sprints such as the men’s 100- and 200-meter races featuring Jerome Campbell, Juriad Hughes Jr., Karamoko Sacko among others; middle-distance races like Josh Rammage and Wyatt Green contesting in the men’s 800 meters; hurdles with Abdoul Sy-Savane; high jump with Cooper Williams; long jump entries including Link Lindsey; as well as relay teams participating in both invitational sections of sprint relays.
The competitions provide valuable experience for athletes aiming to qualify for postseason championships later this spring.
