The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions secured a 5-4 win over Texas Southern in the final game of their home series on April 22, taking the series two games to one and improving their Southwestern Athletic Conference record to 12-6.
This result is important for the Golden Lions as it strengthens their position in conference play and provides momentum heading into upcoming matchups. The team now holds an overall record of 19-23.
The game began with Arkansas-Pine Bluff scoring three runs in the first inning, followed by another run in the second, giving them an early lead. Pitcher Ryland Morin played a key role by delivering seven innings and allowing four runs on six hits while striking out four batters. Morin’s performance improved his season record to 5-1.
Reliever Jordan Medellin pitched two scoreless innings, including retiring all batters faced in the ninth inning to secure the victory. The decisive run came when Dane Small scored on an error in the bottom of the ninth, ending any chance of a comeback for Texas Southern.
Looking ahead, Arkansas-Pine Bluff will travel this Wednesday to face UCA and aim to continue building on their recent success.
