The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has issued a reminder to political candidates and their supporters about the prohibition of campaign signs on highway right of ways in the state. According to state laws, only official directional, informational, and regulatory signs are allowed on state-owned highway property. The ARDOT Area Maintenance Office is responsible for removing any unauthorized signs.

“It is important to keep highway right of ways clear for the safety of both drivers and road workers,” said ARDOT Director Jared Wiley. The department will remove any yard signs placed in these areas and will contact owners of larger billboard signs to ensure their removal. Owners can retrieve their confiscated signs during regular business hours at the nearest ARDOT Area Maintenance Office.
