The Arkansas Department of Transportation announced it will host two public involvement meetings to gather input on the proposed western north-south connector in northwest Arkansas. The connector would be located west of Highway 112 in Benton and Washington counties.

According to the department, the purpose of these meetings is to seek input on potential route alternatives, collect information about important resources, and determine the appropriate class of action under the National Environmental Policy Act. Both meetings will provide the same information.

The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Highfill (Fellowship Hall), 412 NW Main Street, Siloam Springs. The second meeting will take place Thursday, April 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Hiwasse First Baptist Church (Fellowship Hall), 13512 Arkansas Highway 72, Hiwasse.

Comments regarding the project will be accepted until Friday, April 24 at 4:30 p.m. Comments can be submitted online or by mailing a printed form to ARDOT’s Environmental Division in Little Rock. Individuals without internet access are encouraged to contact Matt Strawn at (501) 569-2281 or matt.strawn@ardot.gov with questions about the project.

The department also said that it complies with all civil rights provisions of federal statutes and related authorities prohibiting discrimination in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Free language assistance may be available upon request.
