The Arkansas Department of Transportation will begin a concrete pavement patching project on Interstate 40 eastbound in North Little Rock.
The project aims to improve pavement conditions between the North Hills overpass and the Interstate 57/U.S. Highway 67 interchange. Weaver-Bailey Contractors, Inc. has been awarded a $691,000 contract to remove and replace 17 panels of continuously reinforced concrete pavement in the eastbound outside lane. According to ARDOT District 6 Engineer Hunter Lake, “This project focuses on an area of pavement that has needed repeated temporary repairs (…) By replacing these concrete panels, we’re delivering a safer, smoother, and longer-lasting roadway for everyone who travels this busy corridor.”
All work will be conducted during nighttime hours between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. daily from Monday, February 16 through Tuesday, February 24, weather permitting. The two eastbound outside lanes will be closed for crews to work during these times.
Motorists are advised to expect lane closures and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
While this project addresses immediate pavement needs, a full reconstruction of this segment of I-40 is planned as part of a future phase of the 30 Crossing project, pending available funding.
