An Alma resident recently discovered a significant lottery win among tickets she had set aside. Kathy R. claimed a $50,000 prize from the $50,000 Frenzy instant game at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on September 5. The ticket was purchased at Oaks Corner in Van Buren.

Kathy, who plays lottery games twice a month and keeps her non-winning tickets for second-chance drawings, found the winning ticket while scanning entries into the AR Lottery + Club app after work.

“Did I just freaking win $50,000?” she thought as she scanned the ticket.

After confirming her win, Kathy shared the news with coworkers and sent them a photo of the scratch-off ticket to prove it. According to Kathy, most friends and family were excited by her good fortune.

“I’ve had those tickets in my car since January, maybe February,” she told lottery officials. “By grace it didn’t end up in the garbage!”

She said she plans to enjoy her winnings.

There are still twenty-nine top prizes of $50,000 available in the $50,000 Frenzy game.

Following a recent Powerball jackpot of $1.8 billion that was won on September 6, attention has turned to other major draws. The next Mega Millions drawing offers a jackpot of $358 million on Tuesday night. The LOTTO jackpot has also increased to $1.05 million for Wednesday’s draw—making it only the third time this particular jackpot has exceeded $1 million. Previous LOTTO jackpots claimed by Arkansas residents have been for amounts exceeding $5 million and over $2 million.

Tickets for Mega Millions and LOTTO can be purchased at licensed Arkansas Scholarship Lottery retailers or through retailer apps associated with Play on the Go partners. Additional details about these options are available on the Where To Play page at MyArkansasLottery.com.

Since its start in 2009, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery reports sales exceeding $8 billion and more than $1.5 billion returned for scholarships supporting students across Arkansas (https://myarkansaslottery.com/about/). Over 822,000 college scholarships have been distributed by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education using funds generated by lottery proceeds (https://www.adhe.edu/students-parents/financial-aid/scholarships-and-programs/ar-lottery-scholarship/). Players have received more than $5.5 billion in prizes; retailer commissions total over $456 million; and state and federal tax revenue contributions exceed $187 million (https://myarkansaslottery.com/about/).
